Embraer Phenom 100, Phenom 300, Executive, Commercial and Defense Deliveries – 3Q23

Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace company, has reported impressive delivery figures for the third quarter of 2023. With a 30% increase in deliveries compared to the same period in 2022, Embraer continues to strengthen its position in the aviation industry. Both the commercial aviation and executive aviation sectors experienced significant growth, contributing to the company’s success. In this article, we will delve into the details of Embraer’s Q3 2023 deliveries and explore the key factors behind their achievements.

Embraer Executive Jets Reaches New Heights
Embraer’s executive aviation division experienced remarkable success in the third quarter of 2023. With a total of 28 jets delivered, including 19 light jets and 9 mid-size jets, Embraer continues to meet the demands of discerning customers in the executive aviation market. This represents a 22% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

The Phenom series, particularly the Phenom 300, played a significant role in Embraer’s executive aviation deliveries. The Phenom 300, a popular choice among corporate and private customers, accounted for 17 units delivered during the third quarter. This light business jet offers exceptional performance, comfort, and operational versatility, making it a preferred option for discerning clients.
In addition to the Phenom 300, Embraer also delivered two Phenom 100s, four Praetor 500s, and five Praetor 600s. The Phenom 100 is a very light business jet specially designed for short-haul flights, providing convenience and efficiency for executives on the move. The Praetor 500 and Praetor 600, both midsize business jets, offer transatlantic range and luxurious interiors, catering to the needs of executives seeking comfort and style during their travels.

Embraer’s executive aviation backlog remains strong, with a value of $4.3 billion at the end of the third quarter. This backlog, coupled with a book-to-bill ratio of 1.5, indicates a healthy pipeline of future orders for Embraer’s corporate jets. The company’s sustained sales momentum and customer acceptance in both retail and fleet markets have contributed to this positive outlook.

Embraer Phenom Technological Advancements and Milestones
One of the highlights in executive aviation was the announcement of the Phenom 100EX at the National Business Aviation Association’s annual exhibition in Las Vegas. The Phenom 100EX is the newest evolution in Embraer’s executive jet lineup, offering superior cabin comfort, operational versatility, and safety-enhanced pilot-centric avionics. This new model further solidifies Embraer’s commitment to providing the ultimate flying experience for their customers.

Embraer also made significant strides in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) testing. In October 2023, Embraer successfully tested the Phenom 300E and Praetor 600 on 100% neat SAF at their Melbourne facility. These tests provided valuable insights into the performance of Embraer’s systems when utilizing blends of up to 100% SAF. This demonstrates Embraer’s commitment to environmental sustainability and their efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of their aircraft.

The expansion of Embraer’s training capabilities also played a significant role in their success in executive aviation. Embraer-CAE Training Services (ECTS) announced the deployment of two new Phenom 300 full-flight simulators, with one scheduled to enter service in Q1 2024 at CAE London Burgess Hill (UK) and the second in Q3 2024 at CAE Las Vegas (U.S.). Additionally, Embraer and FlightSafety International announced the opening of a new Praetor full-flight simulator in Orlando, Florida, which has already been qualified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These investments in training infrastructure reflect Embraer’s commitment to providing top-notch training and support to their customers.

Commercial Aviation Deliveries
Embraer’s commercial aviation division witnessed remarkable growth in the third quarter of 2023. With a 50% increase compared to the same period in 2022, the company delivered 15 commercial jets. This growth can be attributed to the soaring demand for Embraer’s aircraft, particularly the E175 and E195-E2 models. The commercial aviation backlog also experienced a positive trend, rising from $8 billion to $8.6 billion compared to the previous quarter, with a total of 42 aircraft sold by September. This surge in backlog demonstrates the strong demand for Embraer’s commercial jets. SkyWest placed an order for 19 new E175 jets, further contributing to the growing backlog. These jets, which will be operated in the United Airlines network, are set to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024.
American Airlines, one of the largest airlines in the world, recently signed a firm order for four new E175s, which will be operated by their wholly owned subsidiary, Envoy Air. These aircraft will be included in Embraer’s fourth-quarter backlog, further strengthening the partnership between Embraer and American Airlines. With all deliveries scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024, Envoy Air’s all-E-Jet fleet will grow to over 150 aircraft by the end of 2024.
